http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12490/7232796?cpt=8&wpid=2637 Sun, 28 Jan 2018 00:00:26 +0000 Fire in a manufacturing company A powdercoating and sandblasting manufacturing company goes up in flames in West Eugene. http://chic.clipsyndicate.com/video/playlist/12490/7232796?cpt=8&wpid=2637 KEZI kezi 9 news at 5" a manufacturing business goes up in flames early this morning, causing massive damage. thanks for joining us for this special edition of kezi 9 news, i'm kalyn norwood. now fire crews are trying to figure out how the fire started. kezi 9 news reporter, jeanette quezada, was on scene earlier today... jeanette, you spoke to fire crews who say it was a difficult fire to put out? that's right kalyn -- take look at the flames behind me. firefighters told me it took them about an hour to get the fire under control. the fire happened at armur powdercoating and sandblasting... shortly after 5 a-m. it's a metal manufacturing company that sits at the intersection of royal avenue and green hill road in eugene. fire crews say fighting the fire was challenging because of the type of business that was on fire. for instance -- there was a thousand gallon propane tank on the north side that was aiding in the fire. they were able to contain it, just in time before it reached that tank. they also say the company has a large power feed and they had to shut it off to aid in their fire- fighting efforts. "it's an industrial manufacturing facility so um, it's a more dangerous place just to work at when it's operating like it's suppose to be so when it's on fire and it's dark out and you're unfamiliar with it... you're not an employee, you have all those added hazards." they also say water hydrants were not readily accessible so they had limited access to water. fire crews say most of the damages happened in the processing building and the business office. no one was injured. fire crews say the cause of the fire remains under investigation. they also don't want people to be alarmed if they see smoldering in the next couple of days. live
